The all-important question:
WAS JUN TEARING UP DURING THAT PERFORMANCE OF ONE LOVE??
notpoetenough: oh the sweetness (Default)
Just rewatched the GUTS! and Daremo Shiranai MS perfs again
and Ohno dancing dorky and Ohno dancing sexy...
IT DOES NOT MATTER A WHIT EVERYTHING IS SO GOOD /gurgles

More into Bittersweet than ever
(just rewatched the Hey!x3 perf again and sigh awash in feels -
THIS SONG, THIS CHOREO and Ohno is just so hot idek)
but this PV should /not/ have been made.
Overly airbrushed, and completely incongruent with the choreo and the beat. LAZY.
If I'd ordered the LE for this I would be feeling so cheated rn.
notpoetenough: oh the sweetness (Default)
Hilarious, and way better than the New Year SP (which tried too hard).
It felt... honest?
Like Arashi weren't just making comments for the sake of making them/hamming it up for the camera.
(I think they really enjoy the older brother/mentor sort of role?)
And great food ofc and it doesn't hurt that Tanaka Rie and Haruma are absolutely adorbs. *O*

AND I'M JUST IN TIME FOR SHO'S BIRTHDAY!
HAPPY 32NDDDD

/swooning
This is precisely the Arashi I love.
Ugh the song is everything I hoped for
and all the TEAMWORK(! I SEE YOU COUNTING FOR THE REST THERE OHMIYA)
and sassing going on in the back
and adorable/flawless Ohno choreo (WITHOUT CLASSIC OHNO MOVES??? O.O) -
that's some vv pretty footwork going on in the intro -
and Aiba's perfect hairrrr
And just that overwhelming sense of them having /fun/ despite not being terribly familiar with the choreo.

Cheeks are hurting from all the grinning.

P.S. IF YOU CAN HEAR ME, JSTORM -
THE PV HAD BETTER HAVE DANCE SCENES IN IT. >:(

Just watched the remaining Fuku Arashi clips
and guh OHMIYA = OTP4EVA I KID YOU NOT

Tumblr annoyances:
1. 'Stahp'. Or variations thereof. *grindgrind*
2. Photos of pretty food with bites already taken out of said food.
(THE SALIVA. THE MENTAL IMAGES.)

It's 2am in the morning and I'm silent-screaming in front of the screen
because Nino is getting smarmier and smarmier
and Ohno's ending pose to FUNKY (SCREAMS HE LOOKS SO HAPPY)
and YAMA AT THE START OF TROUBLEMAKER (this song is practically a skit now lol, it's so overblown/over-evolved)
and Aiba is so into everything it's adorable
and Matsujun has ridiculous facial structure
(and the way he throws his mic from one hand to the other is :Q___)
and KUMORINOCHI, KAISEIIIIIIIIIII
and Arashi is flawless

/crying (oh goodness)
notpoetenough: oh the sweetness (Default)
SAKANACTION'S KOUHAKU DEBUT ugh I'm so happy for them?! ;;

Oh-chan -
HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my favourite idol
and the awesomest leader (or not quite, lol) one could wish for. :'D
...I often think that I'd be a much happier person if I were more like you.
May you have many more years of doing what you want to do. <3

AniS, 2013.04.13:
SQUEEEEE RYUHEI AND OHNO ~CONNECTING~
GOODNESS YOU WEIRDOS, ILUSM ;~;

五月天, kings of the cheesy Mandorock anthem <3
AND SODAGREEN IN THREE DAYSSSS
notpoetenough: oh the sweetness (Default)
Just watched the 2013.02.07 VSA ep
and it is easily the best one I've seen in ages???
AKIRA is an adorable man guh (and actually sorta resembles his Tumbling character irl, aww)
and Takahashi Katsumi was hugely entertaining.
If I picked dramas to watch based on variety promo appearances
I'd be jumping on Biblia without a second thought.

キツツキと雨:
H's taste, on-point as always.
So... warm? And heartfelt - and genuinely, genuinely lovely (much like the shooting locale, haha).
Loved Koichi's shedding of his superstitions (says so much with so little)
and the adorably hilarious-awkward bath scenes.
Also the massively endearing characters
and the winsome (who would have thought I'd ever get to use that word, lol) soundtrack.
Ended too soon tbh.
notpoetenough: oh the sweetness (Default)
Double Tone, finale:
Ended on a neat - if predictable - note.
One thing: didn't understand why Tamura Yumi WOULDN'T retain awareness of Nakano Yumi,
since only the future was changed?
Unless the whole scenario was reset once the problem was solved,
but sigh can you say unnecessary. :(

東京の空 takes off all my rough edges.
Perfect song, perfect drama. ;;

Music Bank:
Oh wow M.jup just stole every single frame he was in (way kid moves is smouldering *O*).
The MV should've just been them dancing -
then it wouldn't even have had the /chance/ to devolve into an incoherent mess.
Also: Junhong rapping in CS like that kid we all know
who is too embarrassed to take his school play lines seriously lol.

ALL THESE OHNO MAG SPREADS :Q___ gotta catch 'em all
notpoetenough: oh the sweetness (Default)

IT'S BEEN OUT FOR A WEEK /CRIES
(Lmao a crowd of spinning ballerinas.
You know some storyboard guy somewhere
is congratulating himself on inventing this (super)fresh! way
of making a PV look like it has a larger budget/more artistic merit than it really does.)

O.O THE WHITE VERSION OF THE 24HR TEE IS AWFULLY PRETTY
(AND REFLECTIVE OF BOTH KUSAMA YAYOI'S AND OHNO'S STYLES) DDD:
Very, very tempted. Is it worth $36 (or £18, in a bid to make myself feel better)?

空中庭園:
The flashier - for better or for worse - cousin of Tokyo Sonata.
(Was pleasantly surprised by how different from Aoi Haru it was, actually?)
Visually gorgeous in a languid kind of way (notwithstanding the excessive use of spinning camera),
tinged with dark humour in unexpected corners
and (O.O) subject to a constant undercurrent of creepy even at its most mundane.

Ughhh was practically holding my breath throughout the birthday party scene -
first during the tension/those vicious retaliatory stabs,
then during the palpable grief and regret in the SacchanXEriko conversation. ;;

Okay, the ending confused me. ><
- The way I read it, Eriko rewrote the bitter truth in the blood-rain
(and I'm certain this could be phrased less cheesily, but oh well),
which would be a cool parallel to Sacchan's admission
that her memories became more pleasant the more she dreamed them.
But this wouldn't explain the fact that Sacchan seemed to think herself a better mother
than Eriko remembered her to be.
- Alternatively (as I read in one or two online reviews after the fact),
Eriko was reverting to the truth in the blood-rain
(i.e. her memories had up till this point been lies, just like the rest of her life was a farce).
But the point of said farce was to compensate for the reality compassed by those memories,
so this wouldn't really make sense, would it? :3

Idk, maybe I favour the former interpretation
because this would then raise the further question of whether lies are justified
should they /truly/ make one happier
(and when Eriko smiles genuinely for the first time in the film's closing minutes,
it really does feel as if everything would be worth it, just to get to that point) -
which would extend the film's exploration of the collapse of lies covering up a LACK OF happiness.
(In this case, the discrepancies between Sacchan's and Eriko's perceptions of their relationship
would merely be that - differing perceptions.)
Whereas the latter would mean the conclusion was unequivocally optimistic.

...I wonder if the ambiguity was intended, or if I'm just being dense. L-lol.

Music Station, 31.05.2013:
-The Endless Game choreo is f l a w f r e e.
Sharp, expressive, pretty AND SANDWICHED BETWEEN FUNNY? Count me in. *o*
Whoever has been working with Arashi for their past few dance songs
needs to stick with them (pretty please? :'D) for the next few as well.
If I hadn't liked the song already this would have done the trick
(dumb bridge remains dumb but the moves during its second half totally make up for it lol).
-Sho is so intense.
Seriously, this feels like the hundredth time I've said permutations of this
but everything about Kazoku Game/Endless Game fits him like a glove.
Which is slightly creepy, if you think about it, but very exciting to watch.
(I feel uncomfortable calling Yoshimoto hot because he's so emotionally-manipulative,
no matter the underlying intentions,
but YES, SHO, WORK THE HALF-CRAZED IF-YOU-GET-TO-CLOSE-TO-ME-YOU'LL-BURN SMOULDER. YES.)

Soratobu Kouhoushitsu, ep6:
SQUEALING
Eternally grateful to Arama, without whom I'd have given up after the first two-thirds of ep1
(which were terrible - hit-or-miss humour, Gakky's 'acting', etc etc).
But it hits its groove almost directly after,
and - despite the occasional off-moment,
e.g. the way info about the JASDF is oh-so-conveniently dispensed at various points in each episode,
and some lazy BGM choices -
yay bc hilarity + adorable hijinks abound. :D:D:D
Sorai X Inaba are the Hyuga X Natsui of this season (Sorai makes geeky plane analogies sound romantic *O*)
and the tying-in to themes is well-done;
the writing is better than RMPW's too.
And I adore the characters' emotional breakthroughs -
the tears come at least once per episode lolol. ;~;
(I cry so often during dramas/films that sometimes I wonder if it's just me and my fountain of feels lmao)

Kazoku Game, ep5:
Still as great.
Shows no signs of slowing down, and goodness best cliffhangers ever argh.
Watched the VSA ep with the cast, though, and it was really stilted?
I wonder how working with Sho outside of Arashi is like, tbh. D:
Aimiya cooing over Kamiki's progression from kid roles to 'roles with girlfriends' was vv cute though.

Sennyu Tantei Tokage, ep4:
This, kids, is a Bad Drama.
Crimes are lame, cops are annoying
(let's start complaining about Tokage's involvement/methods
when we're actually of some use in the crime-solving process, shall we?).
Also, scriptwriter-san, FYI,
characters constantly insinuating that Tokage's an horrible person blahblah
without any payoff beyond the same scene repeated over and over
(and lbr we all know he won't turn out to be a bad person anyway)
is /extremely/ irritating.
Ugh, at this point I'm just hanging on for Shota's face (HANADAN STYLING IN EP5! \o/).

ENDLESS GAME:
I don't get why people are moaning about the second verse
WHEN THE MOST OUT-OF-PLACE BRIDGE EVER(!!) IS STARING YOU IN THE FACE?
(So, which person decided that an abrupt key change was necessary
ON TOP OF a melody with no similarities to the main song??)
Need a version without that. (Or a version with just the chorus on loop hahaha.)
And lots of Sho gifs because those closeups are gorgeous.

I actually actively dislike Intergalactic, lol.
Style's not my thing and it isn't catchy enough to be a guilty pleasure. :(
Monochrome's nice, though - not ~in love~,
but there's a lot for the ears to feast on, instrumental-wise (esp the drums during the chorus). <3
Magic Hour's somewhere in-between for me?
Not great per se (and could have done without the Yuzu-esque break, imo),
but likeable.
